Dr. Shouptik Basu is a young, dynamic and one of the best cancer surgeon's in Kolkata, with multiple gold medals in MBBS and MS, including a prestigious National Gold Medal in DNB. He completed his MCh in Surgical Oncology from AIIMS—one of India’s most renowned medical institutions. He has received the prestigious MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK. He is a Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India. He has also received advanced surgical training from international institutes like the National Cancer Centre Singapore in HIPEC, PIPAC. He is also trained and certified in Thoracic Oncology and Robotic Surgery reflecting his commitment to personalized cancer care.

He super-specializes in Gastrointestinal Cancers (Stomach, Colon, Rectum, Gall Bladder, Pancreas, Liver), Thoracic Cancers (Esophagus, Lung, and Chest Wall Tumours), and brings a rich experience in Peritoneal Surface Malignancies, with advanced expertise in HIPEC and PIPAC. He is one of the few surgeons in Eastern India who is certified by the leading international body (International Society for study of Pleura and Peritoneum, ISSPP) to perform these procedures. He also performs Minimal Access Cancer Surgery, Gynecological Cancer Surgery, Head and Neck Cancer Surgery, and has a keen interest in Robotic Surgery. Dr. Basu is currently working as a Full Time Consultant Cancer Surgeon at Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre and Research Institute and is in-charge of Thoracic Oncology and regularly performs HIPEC and PIPAC Surgeries.

Inspite of having a busy schedule he loves to teach and serves as a mentor for junior trainee surgeons pursuing General Surgery or DrNB Cancer Surgery, in his institute. He has over 3 books with over 12 chapters in various textbooks. He has developed a video based e-teaching module in Surgical Oncology called DigiNerve Surgical Oncology. He is also a part of the editorial board for Surgical Oncology journal by Elsevier. He also serves as a reviewer for many national and international journals in Surgical Oncology
